Edit Equipment

You can make changes to an existing Equipment.

You cannot delete the Equipment. If you are no longer using the Equipment, set the state of the Equipment to Obsolete, and it no longer appears on your Equipment Summary page unless you do a filter by Obsolete.

You must check out the Equipment to make changes to it, other than changing the state. You can check out the Equipment individually, or you can check out multiple Equipment by using the Multi Select function. For more information, see Multi Select Feature.

You can edit the parameters for the associated Capabilities or the existing Equipment Parameters.

In the case of Equipment Parameters (not inherited from Capabilities), you can modify the following properties:

• Parameter

• Description

• Group

• Data Type

• Min Value

• Max Value

• UOM

The Use Default field is not applicable for the Equipment Parameters and would not be available for modification.

In the case of Capability Parameters, you can modify the following properties only:

• Use Default

• Min Value

• Max Value

Remaining fields such as Capability, Name, Group, Data Type, and UOM are read-only and are not available for editing.

To edit an Equipment

1. From the Summary page, click the Equipment you want to edit.

2. Click Check Out on the details page.

   Once the Equipment is checked out, it returns to the Draft state. The Edit and Delete buttons in the parameter grid appear and the available Capabilities can be used for addition or deletion in the Capabilities grid.

3. To remove any associated Capabilities from Equipment, click to unselect the associated Capabilities, and then click Update.

   To add a new Capability, click to select the Capability, and then click Update.

   NOTE: Make sure that you save your changes by clicking the Update button before clicking the back arrow icon or moving to another tab. Otherwise, a warning message appears.

4. Click the Edit button to place a selected Equipment or Capability Parameter into an editable state, so that you can make changes in the Parameters grid.
   The Update and Cancel buttons are displayed. The Update button saves the changes you make to the Parameter or Capabilities, while the Cancel button undoes the changes to the Parameter. You can click Delete to remove a Parameter. You cannot delete a Capability from the Parameters grid.

5. Once you have made all your changes, click Check In to permanently save your changes. If you do not want to save your changes, you can click Undo Check Out to revert to the previous version.

6. Specify the state of your Equipment by selecting an option from the menu beside the Equipment name. You must have permission to change the Equipment state.

7. Click the back arrow icon to return to the Summary page. The Equipment's tile is updated with the latest data.
