Multi Select

The Multi Select feature saves your time by allowing you to perform actions on multiple items of a similar type (such as Capabilities, Equipment, Formula Templates, Recipe Templates, Recipes, or Formulas) at once, rather than one item at a time. When the Multi Select feature is enabled, the functions available are visible in the Action bar.

You can enable the multi select option using the Multi Select button available on the summary screen. The Multi Select icon does not appear if no items are displayed on the summary page or if you do not have permission to edit the items. You can create a new item while in Multi Select mode.

Click Multi Select to enable the Multi Select mode. The following three buttons appear:

  • Exit – takes you out of Multi Select mode

  • Select All – selects all available items

  • Unselect All – selection of all the items that have been selected is removed.

In addition to the use of the Select All button, you can select specific items on which to perform the actions by clicking on their tiles. The status bar is updated with the number of items selected.

To unselect a tile, click it a second time. Items that are selected will remain selected, even if you leave the summary page until you unselect them or click Exit.

Once you have selected the items you want to act on, the available action icons appear in the Action bar.

In the Tile view, you can click the Select All button to perform the Multi Select action as shown in the screenshot:

In the Grid view, you can click the Select All check box to select all the items as shown in the screenshot. You can click the respective check box in each row to deselect the items.

Click any of the available button in the Action bar for the operation you want to perform. The progress is displayed using the spinner for each tile as the operation progresses. Once you click any operation button in the Action bar, all other buttons except the Cancel button become unavailable because you cannot perform any other operation till the first operation is complete.

NOTE: You can perform only one Multi Select action in a specific editor (for example, Equipment Editor) at a time. However, you can perform another multi select action in another editor (for example, Formula Template Editor).

If you click Cancel during the operation, any entities on which the operation has not been performed remain unchanged.

If an entity is not available for the bulk operation because it is checked out by another user, the operation continues. Message(s) reporting the completion status are available once the whole operation is complete.

Once the operation is complete, the summary page refreshes with the updated tiles. If any issues occur, a belly bar notification appears with details about the issue.

Use Multi-Select for Check out/Check in/Upgrade

For detailed information on Check Out, Check In, and Upgrade actions, see Basic Concepts.

When you click Check Out, Check In, or Upgrade, the action occurs immediately. The tiles of the selected items will be updated according to the action performed. In the case of an upgrade, the items would be automatically checked out if not done manually.

You can do a bulk check out and then check in pieces of Equipment individually. Likewise, you can check out pieces of Equipment individually and then do a bulk check in.

Use Multi Select to Set State

When you click Set State in the Action bar, the Set State dialog box appears where you can select a new state from the drop-down list. Only the states to which the item can be changed will be available in the list. For detailed information on States, see Basic Concepts.

Use Multi Select to Assign Keywords

When you click Keywords in the Action bar, the Set Keywords dialog box appears where you can assign or remove keywords. You can select multiple check boxes to assign multiple keywords or unselect check boxes to remove keywords for the selected items. For detailed information on Keywords, see the Keywords section in Basic Concepts.

If a Keyword is not assigned to all entities (e.g. Formula), it is displayed as partially checked in the Set Keywords dialog box. You can click any of the partially selected check boxes to assign/remove these Keywords. Keywords that belong to all the entities appear with a selected check box in the Set Keywords dialog box.

There are certain idiosyncrasies in the behavior of the partially selected Keywords for various browsers:

  • For all browsers except iPad, if you click a partially selected check box, it turns to checked.

  • For iPad, if you click a partially selected check box, it turns to unchecked.

Use Multi Select to Set Formulas Use to Allowed or Not Allowed

When you enable the Multi Select function on the Formulas summary screen, the additional action Set Use button is available.

When you click Set Use in the Action bar, the Set Use dialog box appears. Select the option from the Use list to set the selected Formulas to Allowed or Not Allowed, and then click Set.

For detailed information about the Set Use setting, see Formulas.

Exit the Multi Select option

You can exit the Multi Select option by clicking the Exit button available on the Summary page.
