You can localize AVEVA Recipe Management using the import/export command line utility.

To add a new language to AVEVA Recipe Management, do the following:

  1. Install and configure your edition of AVEVA Recipe Management with a valid license. For more information, refer to the AVEVA Recipe Management Installation Guide.

  2. After you install AVEVA Recipe Management, open a command prompt and navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\AVEVA\Recipe Management\Bin folder.

  3. In the command prompt, type RepositoryResourceUtil.exe and press enter. It will list the usage and Resource Groups/Languages in Repository as shown below:

Usage: ResourceRepositoryUtil [import file override] [export application resourceGroup [language]]

If you run the RepositoryResource utility for the first time, it creates a new localization database.

NOTE: If no language is specified for export, the default [en-US] is assumed.

  4. The UserMessages.csv file, located in the bin directory of AVEVA Recipe Management, contains all User Interface and Alarm messages currently available to the system.

Provide the appropriate translation for the language you want to create, and save the .csv file under a new name using the UTF-8 format.

  5. To load that file into AVEVA Recipe Management, copy the .CSV file into the bin directory of your AVEVA Recipe Management Server, and run the RepositoryResourceUtil.exe utility in a command prompt.

Make sure that the file is UTF-8 encoded. Otherwise, you will see issues specifically with extended characters that many foreign languages have. (in German, ü, ä, or ö are good examples).

For more information on the CSV file format and import rules, refer to the CSV File Format topic.

If you have created a .CSV file in Microsoft Excel, you must perform the following to ensure that the UTF-8 encoding is preserved.

  1. Open the saved .CSV file in notepad.

  2. Click File > Save As. The Save As dialog box appears.

  3. Specify the File name.

  4. Select UTF-8 from the Encoding list and then click Save.
