Validate the Formula

  • 2 minute read

Use the Validate button to initiate a validation of the Formula against a specific Equipment. You can perform the validation when the Formula is either in checked-in or checked-out state. Validation consists of a verification of the following elements:

  • Every Equipment parameter name must match a Formula parameter name.

  • The UOM of Equipment parameter must match the UOM of Formula parameter (or either can be blank).

  • The group of Equipment parameter must match with a group of Formula parameter. If Equipment parameter is assigned to the General pre-defined group, then it can match with any Formula Group except Input or Output.

  • The Formula parameter’s target value should be within the min and max value range defined for the corresponding Equipment parameter. If not, an error is reported in the validation.

  • If the Equipment parameter is defined with a List Data Type, the Formula parameter must be defined with the same List Data Type.

  • The enum value of the Formula parameter mapped to Equipment parameter must be within the min and max value range defined for the Equipment parameter. If not, an error is reported in the validation.

  • For Input and Output Equipment parameters, the Formula base size and user entered batch size is considered. Based on the difference between these values, a scaling factor is calculated for Input and Output parameters. Parameter validation fails when scaled Target value does not fall within Equipment Parameter range. If the Batch Size value is not defined, then Base Formula Size is considered as the Batch Size. For more information on the calculation of the Scaling Factor, see Calculating and Assigning the Scaling Factor.

To validate the Formula

  1. Open the Formula details page and then click Validate. The Validate slide-in window appears.

  2. Select the Equipment from the list of latest available Equipment in the model.

  3. In the Batch Size box, specify a desired Batch Size to which the Formula Base Size would be scaled. By default, the Batch Size value is the Base Formula Size.

  4. Click Validate.

    • A successful validation notification appears if the validation is successful.

    • If validation errors exist, a validation error message appears with a hyperlink. You can click the link to get the information in the long message format. You can use the information to troubleshoot the procedure.

  5. Click OK.
