Assign and Download a Formula

When Equipment is available in the Execution view, you can assign a Formula to it. Assigning a Formula maps the Formula Parameters to Equipment Parameters.
During the assignment process, the system checks for the following conditions:
-
The names and UOMs of the Formula and Equipment Parameters must match in order to be mapped. It is acceptable for a UOM not to be defined for one side of the map. Parameter Groups must also match.
-
The Formula must be able to map all of the Equipment Parameters or else the assignment fails. The Formula can contain more parameters than the Equipment.
-
The most constricted set of min or max values are used in the mapped parameter. For example, if Equipment parameter min and max values are defined as 0 to 100, and the mapping Formula parameter min and max values are set to 10 to 50, the target values assigned to the parameter during execution must fit within the 10 to 50 range.
The Current Target and any parameter extensions are editable when the Equipment is in "Assigned" status, and the user has permission to change the values.
After a Formula is downloaded to the Equipment, the values are not editable.
After a Formula is assigned to a piece of Equipment, the Current Target and Actual columns are updated automatically from IO if their values change.
To assign a Formula to Equipment
-
From the Main menu, select Execution. The Summary screen displays the Equipment available for execution. Each tile shows the status of the Equipment. You can see a Formula that has been assigned to the Equipment as well.
-
Click the Equipment to which you want to assign a Formula.
-
On the details screen, click Assign Formula in the action bar. A slide-in window appears with a list of all the valid Formula in the Formula list box.
NOTE:
- If no matching Formula Template is available for the selected Equipment, a warning message appears.- Only the Approved and Allowed Formulas which are linked to the selected Equipment are shown in the Formula list box. The Formula must have all the required parameters for Equipment. Also, Formula with matching parameter group and parameter UOM is only available in the list.
-
On the slide-in window, to filter the Formula you want to assign, do the following:
-
In the Search text box, enter the search text to filter the Formula you want to assign.
-
In the Keywords text box, enter the keywords based on which you want to filter the Formula.
NOTE: Only Formulas will be listed and not the Formula Templates. You need to enter atleast three characters in the Search text box to initiate filtering the formulas.
-
-
Select an available Formula and then specify the Batch Size. The default Batch Size value and the corresponding unit of measure are inherited from the base size of the selected Formula. The specified batch size along with the Formula's “Base Formula Size” is used to determine the scaling factor. A batch size of 0 will cause the system to use the Formula's Base Formula Size and therefore a scaling factor of 1.0. For more information on Scaling Factor, see Calculating and Assigning the Scaling Factor.
NOTE: On assignment, the Formula Target values for input/output parameters are scaled by the scaling factor. After scaling, if the new Target values fall within Min and Max range of the Equipment parameter then the Formula is assigned. Otherwise, an error message appears.
-
Click Assign.
NOTE: If you have configured the Done By/Check By options for Assign Formula, then Done By/Check By Settings dialog box appears. For more information, refer to the Using the Done By/Check By Settings page topic.
The following occurs:
-
The name of the assigned Formula appears in the tile of the Summary page, and the color bar on the Equipment tile is changed.
-
The Equipment execution status changes to Assigned.
-
The name of the assigned Formula along with the version details is shown on the details screen.
-
The Formula parameters are shown in the grid with the mapped Equipment parameters. For more information, see Equipment Parameters.
-
You are now ready to download the Formula.
To download a Formula
-
From the Main menu, select Execution. The Summary page displays the Equipment available for execution.
-
Select the Equipment to which a Formula has been assigned. The Execution Details page appears.
-
Click the Download Formula button. If you have configured the Done By/Check By options for Download Formula, then a Done By/Check By Settings dialog box appears. For more information, refer to the Using the Done By/Check By Settings page topic.
You can monitor the values in the target and actual IO values for Equipment Parameters in the Equipment Parameters tab.
