Add Equipment

When you create Equipment, you can optionally set up Equipment-Capabilities and Parameters. You can include the Capabilities for a piece of Equipment by selecting the available Capabilities from the Capabilities tab.

The Capabilities tab contains the following properties:

  • Associated

  • Capability

  • Version

The Equipment Parameters tab contains the following properties:

  • Capability

  • Parameter

  • Description

  • Group

  • Data Type

  • Use Default

  • Max Value

  • Min Value

  • UOM

Equipment with Capabilities inherits the parameters from the Capabilities. You can override minimum or maximum values for the Equipment Capability parameters and define IO. Equipment can also define their own Equipment-specific parameters (not inherited from Capabilities). These parameters are used for Formula download while Capability parameters are used for Recipe execution.

You can add Equipment-specific (non-Capability) parameters by:

  • Using the Add button

  • Using the Import button to automatically bring in the configuration for the parameters defined in a .csv file. For more information, see Importing Equipment Parameters.

To add Equipment

  1. From the Main menu, select Configuration > Equipment to show the Equipment Summary page.
All existing Equipment appears as tiles.

  2. Click the Add button. The Equipment details screen appears with a default name that you can change.

NOTE: The Equipment name cannot exceed 32 characters.

  3. In the Description box, you can enter a description of the Equipment.
The Equipment is in the Draft state and checked out to the user who is currently logged into the computer and is accessing the application.

  4. In the Capabilities tab, select one or more Capabilities that you want to add and then click Update. Click Select All to select all the Capabilities. You can add multiple Capabilities at a time. The Capabilities along with the parameters defined would now appear in the Parameters tab. You can click Edit to update the Capability parameters to modify the default, minimum, and maximum values.

NOTE: The currently associated Capability version appears in the Equipment Capabilities tab. To consume any changes to the already linked Capabilities, you must upgrade the Equipment.

  5. In the Parameters tab, click the Add button to add Equipment specific parameters. A new row appears in the parameter grid.

  6. Complete the parameter fields by providing the following details:

    • Parameter: Specify the name of the parameter. The maximum length of the parameter name for a piece of Equipment cannot exceed 329 characters.

    • Description: Type the description of the parameter. The maximum length of the parameter description cannot exceed 512 characters.

    • Group: Select a parameter group from the list, if required. If you select either Input or Output from the Group column, then the Data Type column is updated to Double and is not editable.

    • Data Type: Specify the data type. If you have defined List Data Types during the configuration, the defined List Data Types appears for selection in the drop-down list after the built-in data types.

NOTE: If you delete a List Data Type from the List Data Types page that is already assigned to an Equipment Parameter, then the deleted data type appears with an asterisk (*) mark in the Equipment Parameter view.

    • Min Value: Specify the minimum value of the parameter.

    • Max Value: Specify the maximum value of the parameter.

NOTE: The minimum and maximum values are not applicable if you select a defined List Data Types for the Equipment Parameter.

    • UOM: Select a UOM from the list, if required.

  7. Click Update. After you have clicked the Update button, the minimum and maximum values appear with the selected UOM.

You can still Edit or Delete the parameters using the respective buttons.

NOTE: You can use the Import option to import the parameters to automatically bring in the configuration for the parameters defined in a .csv file. For more information, see Importing Equipment Parameters.

  8. When you have added all your Capabilities and Parameters, check in your Equipment by clicking the Check In button.
If you click Undo Check Out before your changes have been checked in for the first time, your piece of Equipment is deleted, and you return to the Equipment Summary screen.

NOTE: If you make any changes to the Equipment-Capability checked list, make sure you click Update before performing a Check In or clicking the Back arrow icon. Otherwise, a warning message would appear prompting you to save the changes.

The Users/Groups tab shows the users and groups who have access to a piece of Equipment. When you first create a piece of Equipment, those users and groups can access this newly created Equipment who have access to all Equipment. The administrator must add other users and groups on the User/Groups page. For more information, see Working with Users/Groups.
