Context element templates

Context is the set of key events from which a report presents information. Each data template has a time context and a data context. The time context defines the earliest and latest time on which to report. The data context defines where to find the report data.

You create the context for a report template when you define the criteria that the report template uses to select data for a report. Definitions depend on the type of context you want to create. Use either the Data Template Edit or the Time Template Edit window to set definitions by selecting the template node then clicking Edit > Property.

Batch report templates

Batch report templates define the report template context as PI Batches or event frames. The start and end times of the batch define the time context of the report. Batch templates can have multiple subbatch templates, unit templates, and time templates.

You define the data context in:

  • Batch templates

  • Subbatch templates

  • Unit templates

  • Time templates

RtReports only generates report data for a single batch at a time, including merged batches that use the same batch ID, but not for multiple batches.

You can define a placeholder in the batch template that specifies a batch when the report generates.

Time report templates

Time report templates define the report template's context by using time, asset, and module templates.

Time templates define the time context of the report, while asset templates and module templates define the data context of the report.

Report templates can have multiple time templates, asset context templates and module templates.
