Printed reports and permissions

  • Last UpdatedAug 15, 2023

You print your reports from the RtReports generator, in the Report Viewer. Official print settings are configured in the RtReports editor. Permissions for printing are set by the administrator.

You can print a report before it has been approved, but official prints can only start after the report has been approved.

Print types

RtReports supports two types of printing: regular printing and official printing.

For regular printing, you can:

  • View or print an unofficial report by clicking the View PDF link. Clicking the link causes a .pdf file to be generated. Once the file has been created, it is opened on the local computer allowing viewing and printing.

For official printing, you can:

  • Print only after the generated report has been approved through the RtReports generator.

  • View or print PDF files of official reports by clicking the Print button. A .pdf file of the report will be created and then opened on the local computer for viewing and/or printing.

  • Print with or without an official watermark on the report.

Official marks for official prints are:

  • Official Print

The official print is the default option.

  • Official Print with Water Mark

The official print includes a watermark.

Report templates must be configured for approval before release in order to contain an official watermark.

  • Confidential

The official print includes a Confidential mark.

  • Company Name

The official print includes the company name.

Print permissions

Users can be authorized for either, both, or neither type of printing. Each type of printing is controlled by a separate privilege set by the administrator.

In the RtReports report viewer, all users with permission to print the report can view the status of the active print job and any errors at the top of the Report Viewer page.

Administrators have access to the Cache Management page, where they can:

  • View the statuses and errors for all print jobs.

  • Remove printed reports.

  • Restart the print manager utility.

The Cache Management page is accessible at the URL https://<webserver>/RtReports/WebPages/CacheManagement.aspx, using your RtReports server name.
