Create a service account for RtReports

  1. On the domain controller, create a new user account in Active Directory Users and Computers.

  2. Right-click the Users folder, and select New > User.

  3. Enter the name of your account and click Next.

    OSIsoft recommends that you name the service account RtReportsService. You can enter RtReports as the first name, Service as the last name, and RtReportsService as the user logon name.

  4. Enter the account password and select User cannot change password and Password never expires checkboxes. Click Next.

  5. Make a note of the account name and password as you will need it during installation. After installation, you will configure the RtReports application pools and services to run under this new account. For more information, see Configure RtReports application pools to use the RtReports service account.

  6. Grant access for the new service account to access each allowed PI AF server: The RtReports service account needs read access to the PI AF servers and to all allowed PI AF databases on each PI AF server. In addition, the RtReports service account needs read access to all PI AF elements accessed by client users. See Configure PI AF server permissions.
