RtReports implements a security strategy integrated with Windows Domain Security and PI Server security. RtReports uses groups defined on the RtReports server to control user access and privileges.
The system administrator creates user groups for each report or group of reports, assigns users to those groups and grants each user group-specific access privileges, such as viewing, editing, or generating a report template. Each user must belong to a group that has been granted privileges to use RtReports.
There are three categories of users:
-
General users, who generate and work with reports through the RtReports generator
-
Report authors, who create and edit report templates through the RtReports editor
-
System administrators, who are responsible for maintaining the system health of RtReports
Users can only view the reports to which their user group has been assigned access.
