View the data journal

The data journal is the result of running the data template with a context to retrieve data from the PI System or other data source. The data journal shows the unformatted data that is retrieved given the rules set in the data template specification. You view the data journal in the Journal tab in the right pane of the default RtReports editor window.

To view the data journal, click Journal.
RtReports generates the data journal using the specified report template.

Click View > Refresh to update the view based on changes made to the report template.
The data journal shows the actual data that is retrieved given the data template specification.
Testing the report by clicking View > Test Report creates a sample data journal using either a sample data context that you define, or, without a sample data context, a data sample internal to the RtReports system.
