Enter a name for the relational database in the Data Source Name field. You cannot change this name once the data source has been saved in the list.
-
Enter a longer text description in the Description field to help identify this data source, for example, "Server for LIMS data".
-
Click in the Database Type field and choose ODBC Connection.
-
Enter a DSN Name for the connection. You can type the name, or click the Browse button to the left of this field to choose the data source from a list.
The RtBaseline Services ODBC System Data Source Names window lists available system data sources configured on the web server. Each source is listed in a table with four columns:
-
The first column contains buttons used to choose a DSN name in the table.
-
The second column displays DSN Names for each data source.
-
The third column displays DSN Type (for example, SQL Server) for each data source.
-
The last column displays the default connection string used to communicate with each data source.
-
-
Click the button next to the DSN Name that you want to use. The selected row is highlighted in purple. Click OK to select the DSN Name and close the window.
The window closes and the DSN Name and Connection String fields are populated with the selected DSN information.
-
Select an appropriate Source Time Zone for the server. This ensures that data from this source can be compared with data from other servers across multiple time zones.
-
If your connection string includes the token <PASSWORD>, use the Password field to specify a password. To prevent the password from being appended to the connection string, select the No Password box. Click inside the Connection String field and make any necessary changes to the connection string.
