RtReports

Manage memory and file caches

RtReports utilizes two caches when reports are generated: a memory cache and a file cache.

The memory cache resides in memory and is used to store reports that are running or reports that are in edit. The time that reports are cached in memory is short, and it is configurable via the web.config setting ExpirationMemory.

The file cache resides on disk. All released reports that are based on completed contexts are stored in the file cache on the RtReports server. Reports are not cached if they are generated against an in-progress context. Completed contexts do not change over time.

All cache information is accessible by systems administrators from the Cache folder and in the Cachemanagement.aspx web utility.

Reports in either cache (file or memory) are removed after a configurable period of time. The ExpirationMemory and ExpirationFile cache settings are only used if the report is released and the report context is completed. For more details on the cache expiration settings, see Report Remoting defaults for Cache Manager.
