RtReports overview

RtReports is a fully-configurable enterprise reporting application used with the PI System for building and generating electronic reports and PDFs.

Reporting structure

Generating reports from controlled versions of report templates allows businesses to create repeatable, consistent, high quality reports. Report templates and their settings can be used repeatedly or individually configured to produce different types of internal or external reports.

Each report can use a range of data sources, from internal PI System data to external data gathered by RtBaseline Services.

Reports can contain analytics of report data, including:

• PI performance equations

• Conditional logic

• Process trends

• Additional data collected after processes are finished, such as analytics for minimums, maximums, and averages

Data can be sorted by:

• Batch process

• Sub-batch process

• Time range

RtReports uses configurations for all elements of the report template, such as data processing rules, appearance of report sections, and security settings for user groups and networks.

System components

Reports are generated from approved and released report templates.

Report templates are created and edited in the RtReports editor, where report template authors configure:

• Report sections

• Verification rules

• Approval rules

• Group permissions

Report template authors control the report processing rules using configurable data templates and journal actions.

After report templates are released, reports are run from the web-based RtReports generator application, where you generate a report using system data. Reports can be viewed in the RtReports Viewer window and the report can be:

• Commented

• Verified

• Approved

• PDFs

Users must have the appropriate privileges to generate reports or participate in the report approval process.

System management, configurations, and security settings are controlled by a system administrator.
