You can use this functionality in the Point Cloud Manager environment. If the CAD drawing is large, it can be difficult to review the displayed points around a relevant area. The working zone can be displayed in isolation to aid clarity, based on the dimensions of the current selected volume on the screen.

The following image displays a sample volume with the full CAD drawing displayed.

Selecting the Clip button on the Visualisation menu will then mask any part of the drawing outside the volume of interest. This can be reset by selecting the Clip button again, which displays all the drawing in addition to the displayed points.

Toggling CAD Objects will turn on/off the CAD objects.

This function also displays the MicroStation drawing objects inside the BubbleView. This function should be applied after a suitable BubbleView is selected. This is particularly useful for gauging free space in congested areas, and should complement 3D point cloud evaluation. This may take a small amount of time to process, depending on how many objects are passed to the BubbleView. The BubbleViews must be regenerated using the AVEVA Point Cloud Manager Scan Gateway supplied with Point Cloud Manager for this to display correctly.

After the appropriate BubbleView has been loaded, display the objects in BubbleView by selecting the Objects button.

Select one of the options from the drop-down:

  • All Objects - Displays all objects.

  • Dynamic Objects - Displays an object when you hover a mouse over it.

  • None - Does not display any objects.
