We are pleased to announce the release of Point Cloud Manager 25.2.0 Desktop.

This release includes the following:

  • Colour selection on project open

When opening a project, the user now has the option to choose how the points are rendered when loading a dataset. These are:

    • Remain in intensity – Points will be rendered without the colour data

    • Switch to colour – Points will be rendered in colour when loading

    • Always switch to colour – Colour will be selected as the default display for standard and solid points

  • Render classified points

Datasets which have been classified on the CONNECT platform can now be viewed and interacted with on the Point Cloud Manager 25.2 Desktop application. Instances can be hidden or shown from the Classifications tab and colour rendering can be selected from the Points display drop-down for standard point clouds and solid point clouds.

Note: As of this release the classification functionality is not yet available in E3D.

  • Laser floorplan for cloud projects

Functionality of laser floorplans has now been added to CONNECT generated projects. In this release, when using cloud loaded data, a laser floorplan can be added by navigating to the Floorplan tab and selecting the new laser floorplan option. This provides a quick way to generate floorplans, if no drawings or .pdf files are available for the projects, and removes the need to place floorplans.

  • Simplified floorplan placement

Floorplan placement for PDF floorplans has been improved with controls added for incremental changes for zooming, rotating and placing the floorplan. This toolbar at the top of the application will enable users more control of placing the floorplan and setting the min and max distances.

  • Autodesk Navisworks multiple user support

Point Cloud Manager works with multiple sessions for the same user. This now enables multiple projects to be loaded on the same machine through multiple instances of the CAD link.

This has not been tested in a virtual environment and therefore is not officially supported. Customers are requested to work with their IT specialists to confirm the environment matches the recommended specifications for running Point Cloud Manger and CAD Links.

Bug fixes

  • 772852 - Markup labels are not downloaded

Projects that are downloaded from the CONNECT platform did not contain the labels attached, this has now been resolved.

  • 3691924 - Downloads failing at the decompression stage

  • 3870374 - Unable to download source scans of CONNECT projects

When attempting to download the source scans for a project through the Desktop application, there was an issue for large projects which would cause the list to appear blank. This has now been improved and source scans will load. This can take some time for larger projects.

  • 3857438 - Enable SQL authentication for database connectivity

This was removed in recent versions in favor of Windows authentication. This version re-enables the option, but it will not be developed or tested further.

Known issues

  • 951792 - Integrated BubbleViews option is not working from the Accessories tab in Hexagon S3D

  • 3965721 - When downloading a project, the CAD objects are not downloaded
