You can also access the administration page through the following link:

You must have the Upload and Generator roles assigned on your asset to upload scan files and generate datasets.

To upload scan files:

  1. On the Administration web page, select the relevant project from the Projects menu. This brings up the Dataset Management window, with an Upload drop-down arrow, where you can drag and drop your .zfc files.

  2. Alternatively, you can open File Explorer and then browse to select your files. The application enables you to select either .zfc, .jpg or .e57 files.

For colour scans, you must upload matching colour panoramic .jpg files. The file name should be of the format ScanName_colour.jpg.

  3. After you have made your selection, select the Upload button. The uploaded files are displayed with the following information.

    • Status – Indicates the status of a file, with blue corresponding to scan conversions not started, yellow corresponding to scans that are in progress, green for completed scans and red for scan conversions that have failed.

    • Colour - Indicates whether the scan files have colour. Green icons indicate colour scans.

    • Registered - Indicates whether the scans are registered. Green icons indicate pre-registered scans and yellow icons show unknown registration information.

    • Scan Position - Indicates the 3D position of the scan in meters.

    • File Name – Indicates scan file name.

    • Scan Type - Indicates the scan type. Scan types include: Structured, Unstructured, Panoramic and Collection.

You may generate a dataset with standard structured or unstructured data containing BubbleViews or Panoramic images.

    • Date Scanned – Indicates the date and time of the file scanned

    • Date Uploaded – Indicates the date and time of the file uploaded

  4. To generate a point cloud dataset from the uploaded files, select the required files and then select Generate Dataset.

You can also generate a dataset from .e57 files. Current supported file formats for dataset generation include .lfk and .xyz.

  5. Enter the required dataset information in the window that is displayed.

The CONNECT platform supports the ability to generate datasets with only colour or both intensity and colour. The default setting is to include only colour, this means points are loaded into Point Cloud Manager with the available colours on display. If the data is captured using only intensity, by default this generates a dataset with just intensity values.

When you enable the Colour and Intensity option, points are loaded into Point Cloud Manager with both colour and intensity values. You will then be able to switch between colour and intensity within the Point Cloud Manager desktop application.

  6. To limit dataset generation to a specific volume, select the Limit to volume option and enter the min and max values. Point Cloud data will be generated and displayed with the specified volume.

  7. Enter the Dataset name and select Next to start the generation process. The generation pipeline is displayed as shown in the image below.

You can choose to close the window. The generation process continues in the background.
