The Point Cloud Manager Desktop v25.4.0 includes the following new features and enhancements, resolved issues, and known issues.
New features and enhancements
-
Asset Tag Browser improvements: Projects that have been classified using the AI Classification through Point Cloud Manager on CONNECT can be linked to an asset library from 3rd party software using the Desktop application. This release sees improvements to this browser, now it will not be created unless there are assets present. Filtering is now included based on Volume selection and indication of what assets have been linked to instances via a green tick.
-
Admin mode change: Locally generating a dataset would require the software be installed and running in Admin mode, this could be achieved by adding the “-a” command line to the shortcut and through the installation wizard. This was often missed on new installs and led to confusion for users. With this release the need to be in Admin mode to generate a dataset has been removed, this will streamline the workflow for new installs of the software.
-
FARO E57 to produce Sky in BubbleView: E57 files generated from FARO scan processing will not produce sky in the BubbleView. This change will allow scan providers to use FARO scanners and their software to process scans, export to the universal E57 file and import into Point Cloud Manager desktop without losing the sky. This is currently only available when converting using the Desktop application but in 2026 will be available for Point Cloud Manager on CONNECT.
-
Supported third-party CAD systems: Included support for Bentley Microstation 2025

Uploading large E57 files using the “Upload” utility was previously failing. This has now been fixed, and larger E57 files are supported. |

High resolution BubbleViews created from FARO scans orientation fix. This bug was specific to higher resolution FARO scans and would see a mistake in the orientation. This has now been resolved and any affected scans will require reconversion and generation. |

Areas that have been demolished were not being rendered correctly in downloaded projects. This has now been resolved and the BubbleView will render the demolished area correctly. |
