View point cloud in orthographic mode

OBJECTIVE: View the Point Cloud Manager dataset in the dual window Orthographic mode, offering top-down and selected side-on views. This can assist in making accurate volume selections by visual selection.

Point Cloud Manager opens in the perspective viewing mode. This allows 3D rotation and translation about the point cloud data, giving viewing flexibility.

The points may also be viewed in orthographic mode, offering simultaneous side and plane views. A scale in plant coordinates can be displayed alongside the data, to assist volume selections in conjunction with existing site plans.

Select Switch to 3D perspective/Switch to 3D orthographic by hovering over the top-right corner of the workspace window. You can toggle the view between Orthographic and Perspective viewing modes.

The following image displays a dataset viewed in orthographic mode:

• Movement in these windows is by a left mouse button hold and drag to pan, and with the mouse wheel scroll to zoom in and out.

• Clicking in either of the windows and pressing the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard rotates the selected view by 90 degrees in the vertical axis, allowing the most suitable viewpoint to be chosen.

• The scale, in plant coordinates, may be seen by each view. The display of the scale may be toggled in the main options tab by using the scale field.
