To link SmartPlant Review to a Dataset, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the required drawing or design file in SPR.

  2. Open AVEVA Point Cloud Manager. It is not necessary to open the relevant Dataset as this will be requested from within the SmartPlant Review link interface window.

  3. Run the lfmSPRx64.exe file, which will be stored in the LFMServerSPR folder on your machine. This is normally where the Point Cloud Manager is installed, by default, this is C:\Program Files\LFM Software\LFMServerSPR.

  4. When the interface window opens, select Connect to initiate link.

  5. The Dataset (.lfd file) can be called by selecting the Add Model button and browsing for the Dataset .lfd file in the project directory. The Dataset name appears in the Loaded Models window, and points appear in the 3D view.

  6. If a different Dataset is required to be loaded, then the Dataset name should be highlighted (through a left mouse click on the name, giving blue highlight), and Remove Model selected. A new Dataset may then be loaded for viewing in SmartPlant Review.

The point cloud overlays with the model, as shown in the image below. As with all the CAD-Links, a change in selection or density of a point volume in Point Cloud Manager will be instantly reflected in SmartPlant Review (movement/refresh needed).

It is strongly recommended that you set the SPR Display Units to match the units of the drawing loaded. Not doing so can lead to issues such as BubbleViews failing to open or the Point Cloud Manager dataset being displayed in the wrong position.

To change the SPR Drawing Units:

  1. Within the SPR interface, go to Tools > Measure > Edit Measurement Collections.

  2. Select the Format tab and select the appropriate units from the Readout drop-down.
