When a new project is started, the Marine environment needs linking to the laser survey displayed in Point Cloud Manager. The following procedure should be followed, and the work should be saved in Marine. This only needs to be done once.
All subsequent Marine sessions will access the survey data directly, by adding the Zone containing the point cloud to the 3D window in Marine.
-
Start AVEVA Point Cloud Manager in Advanced Mode and load a Dataset.
-
Right-click on the .lfd node and select Prepare for Marine. This may take several minutes to process depending on the size of the Dataset.
-
Then within Marine, create a new project site and zone, highlight the zone as the current element in the Design Explorer and select Load Model from the Point Cloud Manager menu. For example: LFM_SAMPLE, ZONE - LaserSurvey.

-
Load Model associates the laser scanned Dataset (.lfd file) with the Marine project.
-
In the dialog window that appears, select Yes to verify the Dataset name and location.
-
In the subsequent dialog window, select OK and save your work.
-
Exit Marine and AVEVA Point Cloud Manager.
The following command can also be used to load the Point Cloud Manager Dataset (.lfd) and remap the XGEOM:
lmi dri 'zf|ptclzf.dll|connect' import '***PATH_TO_.LFD_HERE***'
