Any Markup created is logged in the 3D Markup tab. These Markups can be transferred by dragging and dropping the Markup from the Markup Workspace to the Project Markup area to be saved for future sessions. Markup information is shown in the Attributes window at the bottom of the Markup tab. Markups are also interactive; the user can select a Markup in the Markup tab and the relevant Markup is highlighted in the BubbleView/3D view and vice versa.
For information about creating Markups, please see section Add 3D markups.
Each Markup created in the BubbleView is listed under the Markup Workspace in the Markup tab. The icon and default name reflect the type of Markup.
Creating a markup group
Markups can also be configured into groups.
To create a new group:
-
Right-click on either the Markup Workspace or the Project Markup node and select New > Markup Group.
-
Type the desired name for the group and press Enter. The newly created group will then become the active group, meaning all newly created Markups will be placed in that group by default.
-
You can also place Markups into different groups by clicking and dragging.
-
To make a different group active, right-click on the desired group and select Activate.

Importing markups from external sources
AVEVA Point Cloud Manager can utilise project ‘Fast Tags’ that should be added by Point Cloud Manager project administrators from external data sources, spreadsheets, CSV files, Tag lists, engineering information and so on. These can be manually assigned and positioned by interacting with the BubbleViews, or located directly by importing their name, descriptions and coordinate values.
To import fast tags from an external source (in .csv format):
-
Right-click on the Markup Workspace or the Project Markup node and select Import to this Browser.
-
Navigate to and select the desired .csv file and select Open. This displays the Import CSV dialogue as shown below:
-
In the Import CSV dialogue that is displayed, you must tell Point Cloud Manager which properties belong to which column. You do this by clicking on the column and selecting the relevant property as shown in the example below. The column name will then change to reflect your selection.

If you select an incorrect property, you can simply click again and select another property or select Deallocate.
Columns with the Group property selected can be used to structure the entries into a hierarchy. This could be to separate Markups into different disciplines, object types, areas, priorities and so on. The Group properties should be ordered according to the hierarchy.
-
To change the order, in the bottom half of the Import CSV dialogue, click and drag the numbers to rearrange the hierarchy.

The numbers in this section refer to the column numbers at the top of the dialogue. Hovering over the numbers highlights the relevant column.
-
In the Import As section, choose whether each tag should be represented as a point (sphere) or box. You may also change the colour of the fast tag representations by using the colour wheel. Select OK to import the Fast Tags.
The following image shows the results of the .csv import in the Markup tab. Note how the structure reflects the values in the .csv file and the properties selected at the Import stage.

You can use this for output files from AVEVA Marine. If all positional deltas are in one field, you can select Position > Marine. Point Cloud Manager then uses this to place the Markup appropriately.
-
When you are happy with the settings, select the Finish button at the bottom right of the dialogue. The Fast Tags will then appear in the Markup tab, with the appropriate hierarchy, and the 3D view.
-
To delete any individual Markup or Group, right-click on the desired item in the Markup tab and select Delete.
-
To edit the properties of the Markup, right-click on it and select Properties.
-
You can change the size and position of the Markup by right-clicking on the Markup and selecting Edit. Click and drag the blue handles to change the size of the Markup. Select the icon shown below when editing the Markup to switch between editing the size and position of the Markup.

The following image shows the .csv file displayed in a text editor.

The image below shows the Import CSV dialogue when the .csv file is imported into the Markup tab with the relevant properties selected.
