Set up client side

This process requires System level privileges. Please ensure that Point Cloud Manager is not running.

On the machine running Point Cloud Manager, create a System DSN. To do this:

1. Go to the Windows Start menu and select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).

2. Under the System DSN tab select Add. Selecting Add leads to the Create New Data Source page. Select SQL Server and then select Finish.

   

3. Name the data source, for example, AVEVA Point Cloud Manager. Then enter the name of the Server (Name of your SQL Server Machine), then press Next. This leads to the Create a New Data Source to SQL Server page.

   

4. Select With SQL Server Authentication Login ID which would normally be sa, enter the password.

   

5. Select Next. (Screen not shown, accept defaults)

6. Select Next. (Screen not shown, accept defaults). Then select Finish. This leads to the Test Data Source option.

   

7. Select Test Data Source and the window shown below appears showing the status of the test. Select OK.

   

8. AVEVA Point Cloud Manager DSN is now visible in System DSN as shown:

   

9. Run AVEVA Point Cloud Manager and load a project. Select File > Options > Project. Set the value of Storage > Store data in to Database (Multiple users). The Database window is displayed.

10. Set the other details such as Driver, DSNName, Username and Password and select Connect. The next time the project is accessed, the Database connection dialogue is displayed.
