AVEVA™ Point Cloud Manager

Create stored volumes

  • Last UpdatedOct 24, 2025
  • 4 minute read

The Workspace is an area unique to each Point Cloud Manager session which only the individual user can see. It does not have any effect on the data itself.

When the volume has been moved from the Workspace to the Project Volumes area, other people accessing the same dataset through a SQL database can see the volume.

When a volume is created, it appears in the Volume Workspace as an unnamed volume.

To enable people accessing the dataset to see the volume:

  1. Name the volume by right-clicking on it, selecting Rename from the pop-up menu, type a name and then press Enter.

If the user does not accept the name change using Enter, the title will revert to New Volume.

  2. Then, move the volume to the Project Volumes area. This can be done in two separate ways:

    • Enable Add to Manager on the Select Volume dialog while creating a volume

    • Select the Add button on the Volumes toolbar.

For more information, see Adding the Current Volume to the Volume Manager.

When you select the Add button, it passes the current volume selection directly into the Volume Manager, which is the Project Volumes area.

After use, please de-select the function or all subsequent volume selections will appear in the Volume Manager as 'unnamed volumes'.

Using the multiple highlights feature

You have the option to use highlight colours for volumes within Point Cloud Manager. This enables you to have access to demolition planning and the status of other actions using colour highlights. You can have any number of highlight colours simultaneously.

To apply a highlight:

  1. Right-click a project volume and select Highlight > Colour highlight.

  2. To hide and display highlights, toggle the Hide/Show button.
