  4. To enable point data only, on the Actions tab, select the Points/Plan button. This enables you to zoom in/zoom out and pan point data while locking the floorplan in place.

  5. To enable floorplan only, select the Plan button and now you can work with the floorplan alone keeping the point data locked.

  6. To rotate the floorplan, select Rotate on the Actions tab. The icon at the bottom-right corner of the Point Cloud Manager window informs you on which mode you are in (Translation/Rotation). You may select the Translate/Rotate icons and then use the red anchor grips to move the floorplan accordingly.

  7. To rotate the floorplan by a specific angle, set the Snap angle and press the Ctrl key on the keyboard to rotate. The floorplan rotates according to the specified degree.

  8. To adjust the scale factor, set the Scale increment button and scroll the mouse wheel. This zooms the floorplan to the desired scale factor value.

When you are happy with the placement, right-click to save.

Keyboard actions to adjust a floorplan

    • To set the origin, double-click a desired point on the floorplan while placing

    • To resize, hold down the Shift key and click, hold and drag any corner anchor point of the floorplan. On releasing the Shift key, changes are accepted

    • To pan the floorplan, click, hold and drag the mouse over the floorplan

    • To translate the floorplan in the desired direction, use the 4 arrow keys on the keyboard

    • To rotate a floorplan while placing, press the Space bar on your keyboard and adjust the red grip markers. You can also click, hold and rotate the floorplan.

    • To zoom in and out of a floorplan, scroll the mouse wheel.

Loading a BubbleView from a floorplan

You may want to find and open a desired BubbleView from within a floorplan. You can do so by opening a floorplan, then right-clicking a scan marker and selecting Show BubbleView. This opens the BubbleView within the Point Cloud Manager interface.

To detach the BubbleView from the Point Cloud Manager window, click and drag the floorplan on to the screen. Then open the BubbleView from within the detached floorplan. This opens the BubbleView in the detached window.

    Setting floorplan attributes

You may use the Attributes window to set factors such as transparency, height and the Z-axis range for scans.

You can edit the Transparency percentage in the Perspective mode. You may set the floor and ceiling values in the Max and Min ranges, Max representing the ceiling and Min representing the floor.

Setting the maximum and minimum ranges enables you to:

    • Clip out scans from the floorplan view that are not on the specific floorplan level.

    • Set the level at which the floorplan will be drawn in the perspective view.

Scan markers are displayed between the minimum and maximum values that you set for a floorplan.

    Using multi-level floorplans

The multi-level floorplans feature enables you to have a primary floorplan that gives you an overview of the entire site. Through this primary floorplan, you can navigate to different sub-level floorplans.

The sub-level floorplans would then act as child floorplans to the primary floorplan. A primary floorplan can have multiple children and each child floorplan could also have children. The child floorplans should each have a bounding volume that is encompassed by the primary floorplan parent volume.

When you have multiple floorplans imported in Point Cloud Manager, you must first establish a parent-child hierarchy.

    To do so:

    1. Place the primary and child floorplans onto the Points dataset individually. Ideally, the primary floorplan is of the elevation view and the child floorplan is of the plan view.

    2. Adjust the floorplans to match the Points dataset and set the Min and Max range in the Attributes window. To correctly match your floorplan to the points data, you may have to create a volume on the points data based on the min and max range of the PDF floorplan.

    3. After this is done, you can then drag and drop the child floorplans onto the primary floorplan in the entity browser. This creates a parent-child hierarchy.

Parent child hierarchy shown in the workspace area

Only after you have placed the floorplans, you can drag and drop floorplans to establish a parent-child hierarchy.

When you clear the placement on a child or a primary floorplan, the hierarchy is removed.

    4. To view the primary floorplan with its different sub-level floorplans, open the primary floorplan and hover over it. This highlights the different sub-level floorplans. Hover over each sub-level floorplan to view the min and max range and the number of scans displayed in between that range.

Master floorplan with different sub-level floorplans

    5. To go to a particular floorplan, double-click on it in the primary floorplan. This feature is useful when you have to deploy a project in AVEVA Point Cloud Manager - Viewer that has multiple floorplans, where double-clicking on each level takes you to that particular floorplan.

Publishing floorplans to AVEVA Point Cloud Manager - Viewer

After you have established a parent-child hierarchy, you have the option to view this functionality in Viewer through the AVEVA Point Cloud Manager - Viewer Publish feature.

      To do so:

      • Right-click the Project node and select Publish > AVEVA Point Cloud Manager - Viewer Project.

For details on the publishing process, see AVEVA Point Cloud Manager - Viewer Project Publishing.

      Placing floorplans using selected coordinates

AVEVA Point Cloud Manager enables you to place floorplans using defined coordinates. You can do this by creating benchmarks for a floorplan and then associating those benchmarks to the PDF floorplan. This makes the placement process a lot more accurate.

For information on creating benchmarks, see Creating and Importing Project Benchmarks.

To place a floorplan using defined coordinates:

      1. In Point Cloud Manager, right-click a floorplan and select the Placement > Place using benchmarks option. This brings up the Benchmark Association window that enables you to associate a benchmark to the PDF floorplan.

      2. In Floorplan Type, set the orientation of the floorplan. You can select one of the following options:

        • Plan - Aligns your floorplan parallel to the XY plane. This is the default setting.

        • Elevation - XZ - Aligns your floorplan parallel to the XZ plane.

        • Elevation - YZ - Aligns your floorplan parallel to the YZ plane.

      3. Select the benchmarks and use the down arrow to pull the benchmarks into the bottom pane. This brings up the Benchmark Placement window that enables you to select a point.

      4. Select a point on the floorplan. The benchmark name is displayed along with the coordinate values. The coordinate values are displayed based on the type of orientation you have set.

A minimum of two benchmarks are required to place a floorplan using this method.

Point Cloud Manager does not allow you to delete a benchmark that has been associated with a PDF floorplan.

      5. On the Benchmark Placement window, select OK. The Scan Range field is now enabled, where you can set the floor and ceiling values. The default values are set at 0 and 100.

      6. On the Benchmark Association window, select OK to place the floorplan on to your dataset.

      7. To view the aligned floorplan, right-click the floorplan and then select Show.
