The known servers table contains the list of servers that PI SDK knows about. This table can list each server one time, either as a Data Archive collective member or an independent server. Occasionally, you might need to clear entries in this table. For example, if you remove a server from a collective and then want to connect to the server as an independent server, you must remove the old collective and then add the independent server.
If the known servers table contains more than one server, you can simply remove a server using PI Connection Manager. However, the procedure for clearing table entries differs if the server you want to remove is your only connection. In that case you must add a temporary server to the table before you remove a server connection.
-
Open PI Connection Manager. From most clients, choose File > Connections.
-
If you only have one connection, you must first add a temporary or placeholder server.
If you have multiple connections, skip this step.
-
Choose Server > Add Server.
-
In Network Node, type a temporary name, such as TempServer.
-
Clear the Confirm check box.
When Confirm is selected, PI Connection Manager attempts to connect to the specified server.
-
Click OK.
-
-
Remove the server you want to clear.
-
Select the server.
-
Choose Server > Remove Selected Server.
Note: If you have multiple connections, the procedure is now complete. If you do not have multiple connections, you can now add the new server (step 4).
-
-
To add the new server:
-
Choose Server > Add Server.
-
In Network Node, type the server host name.
-
Enter the connection credentials.
-
Click OK.
-
-
Remove the temporary server.
-
Select the temporary server in the list of servers.
-
Choose Server > Remove Selected Server.
