How will PI Server 3.4.380 affect my clients and interfaces?

In most cases, the new security model does not affect PI client applications. Additional security configuration steps might be necessary for:
-
Products that connect through a trust (most will work fine; some custom applications might need reconfiguring)
Unless a client meets one of the above criteria, it should work with the PI Server 3.4.380 without any extra configuration. If you want to use new Data Archive security features, you need to:
-
Upgrade the PI SDK to PI SDK 2016 or later. Nearly all functionality for the new Windows security and transport security on the client side resides within the PI SDK.
-
Upgrade Administrative client applications (applications that can set access permissions)
Note: Starting with the release of PI API 2016 for Windows Integrated Security, PI API supports Windows authentication. Earlier versions of PI API do not support Windows authentication. In those cases, PI API-based applications can authenticate only through a PI trust or explicit login. Most interfaces are PI API-based.
