The second phase of the move process focuses on the task of moving Data Archive to a new (target) server computer. In some situations Data Archive is deployed to a single standalone computer. To move Data Archive in that situation, see Phase 2a: Move a single server.
However, Data Archive servers can also be deployed as part of a collective. For a collective, you must move each collective member, as described in this section.
A Data Archive collective consists of two or more Data Archive members, with a primary Data Archive member and at least one secondary Data Archive member.
You must perform the entire move process on the primary server first. Then, perform the same tasks for each secondary Data Archive server in the collective.
Moving Data Archive collective members to new computers requires careful consideration and execution to maintain the same primary-to-secondary relationships within the collective members. In addition, if you are moving collective members running Data Archive 2016 R2 or earlier, you must take specific steps for the certificates used with these collectives. Therefore, when moving collective members, ensure that you are referring to the version of documentation corresponding to the version of Data Archive running on the collective members.
For more information on Data Archive collectives, see Buffering and High Availability.
