The following table lists the individual features and components supported by the ADDLOCAL and REMOVE parameters of the PI Server_2018 SP3_.exe command. Feature names are case-insensitive, as contrasted with variable names which are case-sensitive. Multiple features are separated by a comma, and the list must not contain any spaces. The Install Kit Feature Name column in the table corresponds to the selectable features under the Server Roles and Individual Features tabs in the Feature Selection window of the install kit.

ALL

ALL is a special keyword to select all individual features and components. The ALL keyword cannot be used in a comma-separate list with any other feature name, but it can be used in conjunction with REMOVE=keyword.

TYPICAL

N/A

TYPICAL is a special keyword to select all individual features and components, except: PIAFLink, PIAlarm, pipeschd, PIBatch, StreamUpdatesFeature, CrawlerFeature, PISystemDirectory, FD_AFCollectiveManager,, ModuleDatabaseBuilder. The TYPICAL keyword cannot be used in a comma-separate list with any other feature name, but it can be used in conjunction with REMOVE=keyword.

For a new installation, the REMOVE parameter can be used in conjunction with ADDLOCAL=ALL or ADDLOCAL=TYPICAL to trim out and remove specific individual features and components from an ALL or TYPICAL installation.

  • feature_name

    Name of an individual feature or component to remove from the installation or upgrade. You can specify one or more feature names as a list, separated by commas.

    For an upgrade, the REMOVE parameter has no effect on features that were installed from a previous installation. That is, earlier versions of PI Server must be upgraded before the REMOVE parameter has any effect.

PI System Explorer Management Plug-in

Plug-in component to PI System Explorer for managing analyses services and notification rules on PI AF server. If FD_AFAnalysisMgmt is selected, FD_AFExplorer will be installed whether or not it is explicitly specified on the command line for installation.

FD_AFBuilder

PI Builder

A Microsoft Excel add-in component that accesses and assists with configuration for PI AF server and Data Archive. Requires Microsoft Excel 2010 SP2 or later.

FD_AFCollectiveManager

AF Collective Manager

Installs the AF Collective Manager. The AF Collective Manager tool creates and manages PI AF collectives.

FD_AFDocs

PI AF documentation

Installs the documentation, which is a set of the PI AF .CHM help files.

FD_AFExplorer

PI System Explorer

A graphical user interface tool for accessing and managing PI AF server and Data Archive, and includes AFImport and AFExport utilities.

FD_AppsServer

PI AF Application Service

Provides PI AF client applications with the ability to read and write PI AF data stored in the PI AF SQL Server database.

FD_SQLScriptExecution

AF SQL Script Execution

Executes the AF SQL scripts, and creates or updates the PI AF SQL Server database.

If FD_SQLScriptExecution is specified, FD_SQLServer will be installed whether or not it is explicitly specified on the command line for installation.

PI AF SQL Server database

Installs the AF SQL scripts used to create the PI AF SQL Server database.

ModuleDatabaseBuilder

PI Module Database Builder

Installs the PI Module Database Builder. The PI Module Database Builder is an Excel add-in used to create, edit, and delete Modules, Aliases, and Properties on PI Server.

PIAFLink

PI AF Link Subsystem

Installs the PI AF Link tool. The AF Link tool enables you to perform migrations from PI Batch to PI Event Frames and Module Database to PI AF.

PIAlarm

PI Alarm Subsystem

Installs the PI Alarm Subsystem. The PI Alarm Subsystem provides the capability to establish alarms for PI points.

PIAnalysisService

PI Analysis Service

Installs PI Analysis Service. This feature runs configured analyses.

PIBatch

PI Batch Subsystem

Installs the PI Batch Subsystem. The PI Data Archive component that configures, monitors, and records batch activity within the archive file.

PIDataArchive

Data Archive server

This features installs the core Data Archive server, the historian at the heart of the PI Server.

PINotificationsService

PI Notifications Service

Installs PI Notifications Service. This feature that allows you to configure e-mail notifications and rules.

pipeschd

PI Performance Equation Scheduler

Installs the PI Performance Equation Scheduler. The Data Archive component that evaluates performance equations.

PiPowerShell

Power Shell for the PI System

Installs PowerShell Tools. PowerShell Tools for the PI System provide PI Administrators with a host of Microsoft PowerShell cmdlets to help with the administration of their Data Archive and PI AF servers.

PI System Management Tools

Installs PI SMT. PI System Management Tools (SMT) is a set of easy-to-use tools that allow you to perform all the basic PI Data Archive administration tasks.

PITotal

PI Totalizer Subsystem

Installs the PI Totalizer Subsystem. PI Totalizer Subsystem (Totalizer) performs common calculations such as totals, averages, minimum and maximum values, standard deviations, and counting.
