Disable explicit logins with blank passwords

In PI SMT you can use the Security Settings tool to disable explicit logins for PI user accounts that do not have passwords.

  1. Under System Management Tools, select Security > Security Settings. The Security Settings tool opens.

  2. Under Collectives and Servers, select the server. You can change settings for only one Data Archive server at a time and only for PI Server servers running version 3.4.380 or later.

  3. Move the slider to the Blank password not allowed option.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Stop and restart PI Base Subsystem:

    1. Under System Management Tools, select Operation > PI Services.

    2. Right-click the PI Base Subsystem entry and choose Stop Service.

    3. After the subsystem stops, right-click the PI Base Subsystem entry again and choose Start Service.
