Move the PI AF application service

If you want to move PI AF server to a new computer, there are two tasks you may need to perform the following tasks:

• Move the PI AF application service to a new computer, as described in this procedure.

• Move the PI AF SQL Server database.

1. Run the PI AF server installation kit on the new machine. Disable SQL scripts from executing before launching the installation process.

   For step-by-step instructions, see Install PI AF server components separately. In that procedure, refer only to the second step, which describes how to install the PI AF application service. Ensure that you do not enable execution of AF SQL Server database scripts.

2. On each existing PI AF Client computer, reconfigure the client to point to the new computer hosting the PI AF server.

   If there are several clients, you may want to set up a DNS entry that redirects client traffic.

3. If the PI AF server accesses external data via OLEDB (for example, if it has linked table objects), install any OLEDB data providers that are not included with the operating system.
