Use the MSFWinGen tool to create a machine signature file

Data Archive setup kits for releases earlier than 2015 did not include the ability to generate a Machine Signature File (MSF) for licensing. To create an MSF for those releases, the standalone MSFWinGen tool was necessary. If you are creating a new installation of Data Archive for a release earlier than 2015, (for example, if you are preparing for a migration and upgrade as per Upgrading to 64-bit PI Data Archive while moving to 64-bit hardware), contact the Customer Portal to request access to and assistance using the MSFWinGen tool. This tool is only available by request because using it for Data Archive versions 2015 and later often leads to license percent mismatches.
