Learn how to upgrade Data Archive if using PI MDB (with or without PI AF)

If you want to upgrade a Data Archive server that uses PI MDB to PI Server 2010 or later, you need to perform additional steps before upgrade.

Note: To find out if your server is using PI MDB, see Determine whether your PI Data Archive server is using PI MDB.

  1. You must run the PI MDB to AF Preparation wizard on the Data Archive server (see PI MDB to AF Preparation wizard).

  2. You must make sure that the Data Archive server can connect to a PI AF server (see Understand the PI AF requirement).

  3. The upgrade process automatically migrates your PI MDB content to PI AF and automatically enables PI MDB.

Note: If you do not need the content in PI MDB and you do not want to perform these configuration steps, you can delete the content in PI MDB before you upgrade to PI Server 2010. Delete everything that is not under the modules %OSI, %OSI_MCN, and %OSI_ManagedPI.
