System requirements for PI Analysis Service 2018

This topic provides recommended requirements for the machine hosting PI Analysis Service 2018.

Supported operating systems and software

For production systems, PI Analysis Service 2018 can be deployed on the following Microsoft Windows Server operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2025, including Windows Server Core installations, or

  • Windows Server 2022: All editions in both full and core installations

  • Windows Server 2019: All editions in both full and core installations

  • Windows Server 2016: All editions in both full and core installations

  • Windows Server 2012 & Windows Server 2012 R21

PI System requirements

PI Analysis Service 2018 requires the following minimum versions of these PI System components:

  • Data Archive version 3.4.395 or later2,3

  • PI AF Server version 2.7.5 and later

These PI System components are also required:

  • PI System Explorer: Use the PI AF Client setup kit or the AF Server component of the PI Server installer to install PI System Explorer.

  • Management plug-in for PI System Explorer

1Microsoft no longer supports these versions of Windows Server. Neither version is recommended.

2For recalculation, the Data Archive that stores the output of PI points must be version 3.4.405 or later.

3The minimum version of Data Archive is dependent on the AF Client.

Previous releases

Log into the Customer Portal with your AVEVA support credentials. Then search for and download the PI Asset Framework Release Notes for the appropriate release. The release notes list requirements for all components of PI Server.
