Task 5: Create PI mappings between the Windows account and PI identities

The final task in preparation for a PI API upgrade is to create new PI mappings that associate the Windows account running your PI interfaces with the PI identities currently being used with PI trusts on those interfaces. This upgrades your authentication model from PI trusts to Windows authentication in preparation for the PI API upgrade.

The actual procedure to create new mappings depends upon where the Interface node and Data Archive reside in reference to each other in your deployment. The following sections discuss five common deployment scenarios, with instructions on how to map your account with the identity for Windows authentication.

Note: As a preliminary step for each of the following deployment scenarios, upgrade your Data Archive server to Data Archive 2015 R2 SP1 (version 3.4.395.80 or later) to use Windows authentication and transport security.
