Understand PI interface connections through PI API

The PI Application Programming Interface (PI API) allows for transport security for applications built with the PI API versions. The PI API is a library of functions that read and write values to and from PI Data Archive, and also let you retrieve point configuration information. We use the PI API to create interfaces that run on a variety of platforms. The PI API provides a framework for connecting Data Archive to PI interfaces, or any other PI API-based client application.
