Before moving Data Archive, you must obtain a temporary license file for the target computer and use the temporary license while installing Data Archive on the target computer.
After moving Data Archive, generate a production license for the target computer using either of these options:
-
If Data Archive is already installed on the target computer, use the pidiag command to generate a on the target computer. For more information, see Create a Machine Signature File and Generate a license file.
Definition: A Machine Signature File (.msf) contains the hardware and software configuration information about a Data Archive host machine. This file is required to generate the license file. The Data Archive license manager checks that the MSF corresponds to the proper host machine for Data Archive, as detailed in your license agreement.

If Data Archive is yet to be installed on the target computer, run the install kit and download the license file pilicense.dat on your target computer. See Generate a license activation file for a standalone deployment.
Note: You cannot use the license activation file from the source computer on the target computer.
