Should you enable PI MDB?

You need to enable PI MDB in order to use certain PI products. Some PI products require PI MDB to work; other PI products partially work, but require PI MDB for full functionality. Many PI products do not require PI MDB at all and function as usual if PI MDB is disabled.

If PI MDB is not enabled, that means that PI MDB is read-only on that Data Archive server. You can enable PI MDB later, at any time.

Note: Even if PI MDB is disabled, the modules %OSI, %OSI_MCN, and %OSI_ManagedPI are still available to PI MDB applications. These modules are reserved exclusively for use by AVEVA products.
