It is important to maintain strict administration of identities with write permission. Whenever possible, only identities using Windows authentication should be granted write permission. This security practice is appropriate because most write access is from interface nodes, and PI Buffer Subsystem is normally enabled for writing data to the PI Server. As of version 3.4.380.79, PIBUFSS has the capability to use Windows authentication against PI Server 3.4.380.36 and later. All previous versions of PIBUFSS and the PI API-based PI Buffer Server (BufServ) can only use weak PI Trust authentication.
-
Upgrade PI Buffer Subsystem by installing PIBUFSS 3.4.380.79 or later if you are still using an older version of PIBUFSS or BufServ.
PI Buffer Subsystem is available as a separate standalone installation and as part of the PI SDK, AF SDK, and Interface Configuration Utility installer.
