Before you move files from the source Data Archive, you must install Data Archive on the target computer. Make sure that you install the same version of Data Archive on the target computer that is installed on the source computer.
Note: To move from a 32-bit to a 64-bit computer, see the Knowledge Base article: Upgrading to 64-bit PI Data Archive while moving to 64-bit hardware.
-
Choose a target server for the Data Archive installation. At this point, the target server has a temporary name and IP address.
-
Obtain a temporary Data Archive license for your target computer. If you do not have a temporary license, contact AVEVA technical support.
-
Install Data Archive on the target computer.
Observe the following when you prepare for the installation:
-
Ensure that each volume on the source computer also exists on the target computer. Otherwise, the target Data Archive server may not be able to find all source archive files, requiring those archive files to be registered manually.
-
Consider the volume/drive structure of the new server. If the structure of the new server differs from the source, you may need to manually re-register archives for the Data Archive, as described in Copy archive files from the source server to the target server. See Determine the disk volume requirements for additional recommendations.
-
Use the default directories for the archives and the event queue; these defaults will be overridden when you copy the database files from the source Data Archive.
-
-
(Optional): If upgrading from a previous version of PI Data Archive, you can verify if the upgrade was successful by running PI/adm/pisnap.bat.
-
Shut down Data Archive on the target node: To stop the PI Data Archive, navigate to the PI\Adm folder, and run pisrvstop.bat as an administrator. It is recommended to create desktop shortcuts for both pisrvstart.bat and pisrvstop.bat.
-
Delete the temporary archive files and the associated annotation files that are created during the installation.
