Monitor PI AF server and SQL Server communication

You monitor the overall readiness of PI AF server with the PI AF server Health counter in the Windows Performance Monitor.

  1. On the PI AF server computer, select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Performance Monitor.

  2. In the Performance Monitor window, under Monitoring Tools, select Performance Monitor.

    The display shows a line graph of current processor activity.

  3. To add a health counter for the PI AF server, click the icon in the right-hand pane.

  4. In the Add Counters window, scroll up the list and select PI AF Server.

  5. Click Add to add PI AF Server to the Added counters list.

  6. Click OK.

  7. To change the graph type to a report, click the icon until a Health report for the PI AF server is displayed.

    The health counter can have two values:

    • 0.000: The PI AF server is not running or cannot establish a successful connection with SQL Server, or the PI AF application service account is not a member of the Windows Performance Monitor Users group.

    • 1.000: The PI AF server is running and communicating successfully with SQL Server.
