Phase 1: Pre-move

The first phase of the move process focuses on preparing for the move. The tasks in this phase try to minimize the amount of data buffered by interfaces and to prevent data loss while moving your Data Archive server, test buffering and history recovery, upgrade interfaces to PI Buffer Subsystem, and determine if interfaces connection is by IP address or hostname.

Note: Copying a large amount of archive files from the source server to the target server may take a significant amount of time, leaving your Data Archive offline during that time period. It is important to plan for this off-line time for your move.
