1. The Synchronization Engine runs as a service and therefore requires some form of automatic log on (either a PI trust or new PI mapping).

2. Synchronization Trigger is also a service and therefore requires some form of automatic log on. Without write permission for the Module Database, Synchronization Trigger is non-functional. Synchronization Trigger only uses the Module Database (no point access).

3. The PItoPI_APS Connector requires read permission to points on the source server. Since PIAPS Connectors run inside the Synchronization Engine process, which is a service, some form of automatic log on to the source server is required. That is, the Synchronization Engine that is running the PItoPI_APS Connector requires automatic log on to two servers: the target server and the source server. The method of connection and the access rights granted do not need to be the same for both servers. The Synchronization Engine only needs read access to the PIPOINT and PIDS tables on the source server for the PItoPI_APS Connector to function. However, the Synchronization Engine requires read and write access to the PIPOINT and PIDS tables for automatic point creation on the target server. For non-automatic modes, only read access is needed (on the target server).
