Learn about licensing for Data Archive upgrades

Prior to an upgrade, generate a new license file only if you are changing the hardware of your host computer or if you have changed your licensing agreement with AVEVA.

After a software and/or hardware upgrade on your Data Archive host computer, you must check to see if your existing license file is still valid. This is done with the License Percent Match value. If the value is less than 100%, we recommend that you generate a new license file. Note that changes to your hardware, such as a different hard drive or network card, can result in a license mismatch even though you are still using the same host computer.

Existing license file are generated based off the MSF before any software and/or hardware changes on the host computer. The MSF reflects hardware, network, and operating system information specific to the computer before any upgrade changes are made to it. After an upgrade, the MSF and the resulting license file no longer match the new configuration on the computer, resulting in a license percent mismatch.
