AVEVA™ PI Server Installation and Configuration (PI Server 2018)

Set permissions using the Database Security tool

  • Last UpdatedFeb 12, 2025
  • 1 minute read

The Database Security plug-in for PI SMT controls access to most Data Archive resources. The exception is that permissions for specific points and modules are configured on the objects themselves.

For a complete list of Data Archive tasks and associated access permissions, see List of required permissions for PI Server tasks.

  1. Open PI SMT.

  2. Under Collectives and Servers, select the server. Note that if you have a collective deployment, this PI SMT panel will appear as Collectives and Servers.

  3. Under System Management Tools, select Security > Database Security.

    The Database Security tool appears.

  4. Double-click the table for which you want to set access (see below).

    The Properties dialog box opens.

  5. Select the PI identity, PI user, or PI group for which you want to modify access permissions.

If the PI identity, user, or group does not appear in the list, click the Add button to add it.

  6. Check the appropriate boxes to assign read and/or write access to that PI identity.
