PI System Management Tools (SMT) provides tools for configuring and managing PI identities and PI mappings, as well as for other security components. Every Data Archive installation includes PI SMT.
To manage PI identities, use the Identities, Users, & Groups tool in PI SMT. By default,
separate tabs show identities, users, and groups, but you can display everything in
one single list, if you prefer (click the Options button
to select display options).
Note: The PI Identities tab appears only if you are connected to at least one PI Server 3.4.380 or later. If not, then only the PI Users and PI Groups tabs appear.
To see what identities you are currently connected as, look at the connection information at the bottom left of PI SMT. It displays your Windows user ID, followed by the list of your identities (and/or PI users and groups).
If you click the identities, a dialog box tells you how you are connected (for example, through a mapping, a trust or as a default user).
Note: Your Windows account is always displayed, even if you are not connected to the Data Archive server through a mapping.
To manage PI mappings in PI SMT, use the Mappings & Trusts tool. Click the Mappings tab to see all the PI mappings defined for all connected Data Archive.
Note: The Mappings tab appears only if you are connected to at least one PI Server 3.4.380 or later. If not, then only the Trusts tab appears.
