Task 3: Identify Windows account for your interfaces

The third task of replacing existing PI trusts with PI mappings is to identify the current Windows account configured with the PI interface. This Windows account is referred to as User1 in the following sections.

The Windows account configured with the interface service can be determined through the Services console on the Interface node.

For interactive applications using PI API, the Windows account has the same user name as the user running the application. If multiple users are running the same application, the recommendation is to create a domain group or a local group on the Data Archive with these multiple members in that group.

  1. Open Services on the Interface node machine by using the Start Menu > services.msc command.

  2. Select each interface currently running as a service.

  3. Right-click on Properties.

  4. Click the Log on tab.

  5. Identify the name of the Windows account, referred to as User1.

  6. Identify the type of account by identifying how the Interface node is accessing the data source: Local System account or Windows account.
