Learn how to configure access permissions

The basic steps for setting access permissions on new Data Archive installations are as follows:

• Set default access permissions for new points and modules. After you do this, all new points and modules that you create will automatically have these default settings. See Default access for new points and modules.

• Set top-level access permissions in the PI SMT Database Security tool. These include permissions to configure archives, view the audit trail, change tuning parameters, run backups, and so on. See Set permissions using the Database Security tool.

• Configure access permissions for individual points and modules by editing the points themselves. The Data Archive installation includes tools for doing this. See Learn how to set permissions on specific points and modules.
