Understand the types of licenses

A variety of PI license types are available, depending upon your licensing agreement. Some of the more common types of licenses for Data Archive are:

• Perpetual

  Perpetual licenses, licenses without an expiration date, will continue to allow Data Archive to operate normally so long as the machine information built into the license file matches the information of the machine hosting Data Archive.

• Timeout

  Timeout licenses, for demonstration or try-and-buy purposes, have an expiration date. Upon expiration, Data Archive will go into write-only mode whereby data can still be collected and stored in Data Archive, but no data is accessible from Data Archive.

• OEM

  OEM licenses may have additional restrictions, such as connection count or allowed applications. Speak with the OEM vendor for further details pertaining to your license.
