Learn about the Management plug-in for PI System Explorer

The Management plug-in is a PI System Explorer plug-in. This is a plug-in to PI System Explorer and enables administrators or advanced users to manage bulk operations on analyses and notification rules in a database.

There are multiple ways to install the Management plug-in:

• PI Server install kit: The Management plug-in is installed by default.

• PI AF Client install kit: The Management plug-in must be manually selected as a feature during the installation.

  Note: Starting with the 2017 release of PI Asset Framework, there is no separate install kit for PI Analysis Service.

Where to install the Management plug-in

You can install the Management plug-in on as many PI System Explorer instances as needed in your organization, whether on just one instance, or all. Depending on usage in your organization, you might install the plug-in on every instance of PI System Explorer in your organization, or on only a few, or on only one. The Management plug-in provides features for system administrators and process engineers who perform bulk operations. If you have a variety of PI System Explorer users, consider restricting access to these advanced features by installing the plug-in only for these advanced users.
